Factsheet ‘Strengthening the specialist judicial system to prevent violence against women’
Violence against women (VAW) is the most widespread human rights violation and is a complex and systemic problem. In Peru, around 70% of women have experienced violence at the hands of their partner (ENARES -INEI, 2019). In 2018, Peru’s national specialized justice system to protect and punish violence against women and family members (SNEJ) was founded. Its goal is to strengthen the legal frameworks for protection and punishing VAW and to improve response times and support for victims.

Third Development Policy Action Plan on Gender Equality (2023–27)
The main objective of this plan is to publicize and implement the feminist development policy of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to address the structural causes of inequality and discrimination. It focuses on strengthening the rights, resources, and representation of women, girls, and marginalized groups through human rights-based, gender-transformative, intersectional, and power-critical approaches.
