# Human Rights Compliant Data Collection: How State  Organisations and Civil Society Can Collect and Use Data on  the Rights and Living Situation of LGBTIQ+ Persons

<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">The United Nations 2030 Agenda, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and feminist foreign and </span>development policy actors emphasise the importance of collecting data in accordance with human rights for the inclusion of and combating discrimination against LGBTIQ+ persons and other disadvantaged groups. Nevertheless, there are still deficits in the collection of data on LGBTIQ+ persons in many countries. This stems from the legal situation and cultural circumstances in the countries, among other things, but are also due to gaps in knowledge or a lack of funding. The pilot measure of the Sectoral Programme Human Rights and the PreViMujer project in Ecuador therefore aimed to collect data on gender-based discrimination and violence against LGBTIQ+ persons in accordance with human rights, with the involvement of state actors and LGBTIQ+ civil society.

# From invisibility to evidence First national LGBTI+ survey in Ecuador

Generating official data on a population that has historically been rendered invisible requires more than political will. It requires strong alliances and rigorous methodologies. With that aim in mind, INEC, the Secretariat for Diversity within the current Ministry of Government, and the German development cooperation implemented by GIZ joined forces to produce official evidence on the living conditions of LGBTI+ individuals in Ecuador.

# Digital Magazine – Results of the National Survey on the Living Conditions of the LGBTI+ Population in Ecuador

<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">A digital magazine summarizing the main findings of the National Survey on the Living Conditions of the LGBTI+ Population, whose objective was to collect statistical information on the living conditions of the LGBTI+ population in Ecuador. The information gathered is intended to contribute to the development of public policies that ensure the recognition and protection of the LGBTI+ population across different public and private spheres.</span>
