Ecuador: Video “In your own handwriting”
“In your own handwriting, dialogues in the ring” was a large-scale collective artistic intervention project in the public space, under the artistic direction of Suzanne Lacy and built in collaboration with a number of institutions, organizations and social collectives working against gender-based violence. It was held on November 25, 2015, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in the historic Plaza Belmonte in Quito. The project recovered the thousands of letters written by Ecuadorian women during the “Women’s Letters” project, recounting their life experiences, many of them testimonies about their continued exposure to acts of violence.
